So, your car has a problem.

Alternator failing.

What does this mean?

We’re reasonably sure the alternator is failing. The alternator charges the battery as the car drives. When failing, the battery voltage will intermittently drop too low while driving. That causes many of vehicle’s subsystems to malfunction including the radio, traction control system, Anti-Lock Brake system, and others. It’s hard to be 100% certain until a mechanic arrives onsite. Once a mechanic arrives they will inspect the vehicle and verify the problem. Here is what will happen once booked: 1. The mechanic will inspect the vehicle and verify the issue. If correct, the mechanic will complete the repair. 2. If incorrect, The Car Savior will review the diagnosis with the mechanic and present you with a diagnosis and cost to repair the vehicle. 3. You can decide whether or not to move forward with further repairs. If you choose not to move forward, you’ll only be charged for the diagnosis.

How urgent?

On a scale of 1 to 10, we rate this to have an urgency of 8. Some repairs have very low urgency, and we give those a 1. With these repairs, you can wait for as long as you would like, because it will not ever result in harm to you or your vehicle. These are usually cosmetic damages.

We consider a 5 to be something that will eventually need to be done, but you can likely get away with holding off for a while if other things are more pressing. However, if a repair is close to a 10 (or at a 10), this means you should NOT be driving the vehicle, and should get this repaired as soon as possible.

What happens if I wait?

Since the car is un-drivable, we’d recommend that it get fixed as soon as possible.
